How to?

Plantstraws are used for self watering of house plants. The recycled cotton cord leads water from a vase or bottle, to your plant. The surrounding metal tube prevents evaporation on the way, and keeps the setup stable.

Adjusting moisture level

There are two ways to manage moisture level, for self watering different types of plans.

As one end of a cord is soaked under water, capillary action moves water to the drier side in a constant stride for balance. A longer section of cord in the soil makes more moisture available to your plant. Expect a slow process with an even moisture level.

When the water level in the vase is above the soil of your plant, a siphon effect occurs and water is pushed faster to your plant. The vase or bottle needs to be refilled more frequently, a regular sized wine bottle is usually emptied in one-two weeks.
